This will be my final post. In this post I will be talking about my bloging experiences, such as the difficulties and the rewards of blogging.

Richards change of career fields
I was surprised by the fact that Richard was planning on being a professional hockey player but then changed his career field when he broke both of his arms. Which I find it interesting that he had his career fields changed from hokey to acting after just breaking both of his arms.

Richards sense of adventure
When I read about how Richard road his bike from Missouri to Canada to Alaska or over 5000 miles. It surprised me because for a biker that's far but for someone who doesn't ride bike for competition it is amazing. Because most bikers probably can't ride that far.

Posting with the iPad
I thought it was quite difficult posting with the iPad. Because it always cut off part of my page or it wouldn't let me paste a picture, it also wouldn't let me add hyper links without a problem. Then sometimes I would paste a photo and it would go underneath of what I could see and I pasted another one which meant I had the photo on there twice.

Writing with a minimum of 300 words
It was difficult writing post with a minimum of 300 words because we had to find information on are role model and apply it in an interesting fashion. Which required you giving a factually but interesting opinion on what oh thought of a quote or of the information you found on your role model.

Learning about Richard
I liked how in this research I was able to learn more about my role model as well as write about him.  Which one of the most interesting things I found out about him is that how he rode his bike over 5000 miles.

Getting easier after each post
After getting the first post done and started the next post I noticed that the second post was easier and faster to write. Because I got a sense of what type of writing we had to do. Which I was also more used to how I had to split up the information about Richard with my opinion. Which writing each post got increasingly easier over time.

Ricard Dean Anderson's Five Greatest Accomplishments

I'm going to be getting back to the heart of my blog in this post.  Which in this post I will be talking about what Richard Anderson's five greatest accomplishments.

Accomplishment #5: 5,641 mile bike ride
"Richard took the bike ride from Minnesota to Canada then to Alaska"(Kate R) . Which that is a long to ride a bike, it is also a cold ride because he's going through canda to Alaska which both places are especially cold. To be able to ride the far you have to really determined and strong because you only get to rest for eight hours then your off again.

Accomplishment #4: Star gate Sg-1
Star gate was a tv show that Richard played as a colonel in which he had to rescue agents that of have been imprisoned in other country's. "General Hammond Summons took colonel Jack O'Niel out of retirement to embark on a secret rescue mission"( Read more ).

Accomplishment #3: Grammy
Richard was nominated for nine Grammys and won one. Which I know that doesn't sounds bad because its only one out of ten, but for a Grammy if your nominated it means your pretty good but when you win your really good. But the fact that he got nominated for nine Grammys is amazing because some actors don't even get nominated for one Grammy.

Accomplishment #2: Degree-less success
Richard went to college for over three years and dropped out a few month shy of getting his getting his bachelors degree. After he dropped out he moved to Los Angeles and played as a mime to start out his acting career after that he moved up to playing some small parts in tv shows then started to play major roles.  Now he did all of this without a college degree which is pretty amazing.

Accomplishment #1
Richard tried out for the the role of MacGyver which was the lead role. Right after the audition they signed him up for the contract because they liked him so much. Which I think it's amazing he was so good that he got the role right after the audition. But in the show MacGyver he played as a government agent that had to go on mission to rescue valuable items or important people using the things around him but never used a gun to do it. Well those in my opinion are Richards 5 top accomplishments and I think there will be more to come in the future. But as far as information on Richard there is not going to be much more new information. The next blog will be reflecting on my expire news with making the blog.

The Benefits and Negatives of Playing Hockey

I'm comparing and contrasting the effects of hockey on your health. Which hockey was one of Richard Anderson's hobbies, so I wanted to to know if he would have gotten adverse health effects.

Fighting in hockey is bad for your health, several hockey players have gotten diagnosed  with brain damage but more specificly they got chronic trauma enecphalophy or CTE for short, CTE is a degenerative disease. Fighting in hockey can cause you to get a concussion. But if the brain moves around to much it will result in a concussion and possible brain damage.

But hockey also has its benefits for your health. Playing hockey can help you stay in shape because you have to make a lot of short burst sprints. Which hockey also requires you to work your whole body and as a result it builds your upper and lower body strength. Hockey requires so much energy that you can use on average 10 calories per minute.

Both articles agreed that playing hockey was good for your health because it uses your whole body.  It also burns a lot of calories.

Both articles disagreed that playing hockey with its current rules is unhealthy. The reasoning is because in article one they talk about how fighting can increases the risk of getting brain damage or can cause you to get a concussion which could turn in to brain damage.

But in article two they don't talk about fighting but about talk about the health benefits. Which one of the health benefits they talked about is how it can build your upper and lower body, also while burning an average of 10 calories per minute.

Which the difference between the two of them is that first article talks about how playing hockey can can cause you to get brain damage. Then it also talks about how hockey shouldn't be played with its current rules. Where as in article two they talk about how hockey can help your health.

I partially agree with both articles but agree with article one on the fact that the fighting rules in hockey should be very strict. But I also agree with article two because hockey is good for your health when your not fighting. As I said in the beginning this is one of Richard Anderson's hobbies and almost become his career and I wanted to figure out what could have happen to his health if he played Professional hockey.

The History of Hockey

The hockey you see and know about today isn't anywhere close to we're it started, over 4,000 years ago.

A rough form of hokey started around 4,000 years ago in Egypt and was also played in Ethiopia around 1,000 B.C. There is evidence that links Greece and Romans to playing hockey. The Aztec Indians also played hockey several centuries before Columbus landed in the new world. But the way they played hockey still wasn't the same as when hockey was officially made a sport.

Now when the rules of hockey started in the 1870's they were very broad and basic not anywhere as complex as today because back when they started they didn't wear pads or even helmet like they do now of days and there teams were about thirty people and they played about a third of the team at a time.

But now of days you have to be in shape and work out daily to stay in shape for playing because have to be able to go down the court ram players out of thenway to get to the goal to score. They also have to overcome about fifty pounds of padding and other equipment.

But back in the day it was easier to move faster because they didn't have to wear as much stuff as now of days. They only had shin guards,gloves, and ice skates. But there was a downside to less padding, you had to tougher because there was a good chance that you'd get hit by a stick or the puck, which this also meant there more injuries as a result of less protection.  Hockey has changed dramatically from the time it started 4000 years ago, a big change in hockey has been the rules and the goals, puck, protective equipment and more.

How to Play Hockey

As a curious person I found myself wondering what Richard Anderson's hobby was and I found out one of his favorite hobbies is hockey. When I was researching this I also found out that he was probably going to go pro if he didn't break both of his arms.

In this post I will inform you on how to play hockey which like I said before is one of Richard's hobbies.

Before you find out how to play you need to make sure to get this gear
Helmet and Mask – To protect your head!
Mouth Guard – To protect your teeth!
Neck Guard – Defend your neck and throat
Shoulder Pads – To guard your shoulders and chest
Elbow Pads – To keep from hitting your funny bone or getting hurt!
Gloves – Padded gloves to keep your hands warm and isolated from harm!
Hockey Pants – Padded pants to keep from getting hurt when you fall
Jock/Jill – A very important piece of equipment, protects your groin area.
Garter Belt – Used to hold up your socks
Shin Pads – Guards your knees and shins
Socks – holds shin guards on
Skates – Keeps feet from harm and moves you around on the ice
Stick – A left or right-handed stick used to pass puck or score

Types of penalties
Boarding - no violently hitting someone against the boards
Charging - No getting lined up to hit someone
Cross-Checking – Hitting another player with both of your hands on your stick, using the stick as a weapon
Delayed Penalty - You hold the puck to run the time out , by holding the puck or intentionally shooting it out of bounds
Elbowing –using elbow as a weapon to hit someone
Hand Pass – When a player uses a hand to pass the puck to a teammate
High Sticking – When a player’s stick strikes an opposing player above their shoulders
Hitting from behind - When a player hits another player illegally from behind
Holding – When a player illegally holds an opposing player
Hooking – When a player hooks their stick around an opposing player
Interference – When a player illegally contacts a play that does not have possession of the puck. Also called when a player interferes with the opposing goalie
Slashing – When a player uses their stick to hit an opposing player
Spearing – Hitting an opponent illegally with the players stick or body
Tripping – When a player intentionally trips an opposing player

The basic rules of how to play
Generally there are three, twenty-minute periods in a standard hockey game.
If the score is tied at the end of the third, there may be over-time periods or a shootout to decide the winner.  The player who scored is rewarded with a goal, and the players who passed the puck to set up the goal are awarded with assists.

MacGyver the Movie

Richard Dean Anderson played a fictional character named MacGyver which was also the show name in which he was a agent for a fictional government agency that sent him on a lot of rescue missions which he got to them by using the things around him but never used a gun, well right now you are probably wondering why I'm telling you this well the reason is because they are now making a movie based on the show MacGyver.

As I said there's a movie of MacGyver being made and I think would like the movie because it would remind him of the show back when he did it which when he was doing the show he enjoyed it so I believe he would like how there making a movie on it.

 New Line is cobbling together its "MacGyver" movie, entering talks with James Wan after the director's supernatural horror pic "The Conjuring" pleased studio brass.

Based on the 1980s TV series starring Richard Dean Anderson, the show followed Angus MacGyver, an agent of the fictional government agency The Phoenix Foundation. MacGyver never carried a gun, using his wits and whatever was lying around to fight criminals.

No plot details have emerged for the script that Jason Richman drafted and was most recently worked over by Brian and Mark Gunn. Whether Anderson would be involved is not known. Martha and Raffaella De Laurentiis are producing through their Dino De Laurentiis Company shingle along with Lee David Zlotoff.

Now from reading about Richard I would think he want to be involved in the movie some way whether it be he plays a small role or directs the movie I don't think he would care what part he can take in it as long as he could take part in it.

Richards Career

Richard dean Anderson started of thinking he was going to be a Professional hockey player but ended breaking both of his arms in separate incidences which after that he just put being a Professional hockey off and started exploring the field of acting and got interested in acting. In high school he took a drama and ended up liking it and started getting ready to make a career in acting.

After high school he went to college to get a degree to make it easier to get a job in acting but he ended up dropping out a few month before he got his degree. As result of him dropping out he had to move to California where he got a job as a mime at renaissance fair. He then got in a band with his friend which lasted for a couple of years. Then soon after that he landed a big act as Dr. Jeff Webber in General Hospital which lasted him for five seasons and was 1976 thru 1981 and is what really launched his acting career.

But after General Hospital he stumbled and was in some minor roles for a couple of shows for five years these small jobs continued. Then a big audition came up for a show called MacGyver and he acted in front of the people poking for a role and they ended up hiring right after the audition. Which the role lasted him seven years. His next and last big show was star gate which lasted him 10 years.

"Like many boys growing up in Minnesota, Richard dreamed of becoming a professional hockey player. However, at the age of 16, he broke both arms, in separate accidents three weeks apart, while playing in high school hockey games. He put aside his dreams of playing professionally, though he still harbors a deep love for the sport."( Kate R)
